Sponsorship Saturday: Nick, Bebeth, and Sheedline!

Update 8/28/2021: Sheedline has been sponsored!

Update 4/1/2022: Nick’s page has disappeared. This probably means that he is no longer part of Compassion’s sponsorship program.

Welcome to Sponsorship Saturday, where, every Saturday, I hope to highlight one or more kid living in poverty and in need of sponsorship, in hopes of finding sponsors for them.

Please share these posts so that many people can become aware of people living in poverty and hopefully take action! Sharing is so easy, but can make a world of difference!!

Please note that it is my intention to both help the kids I spotlight, by spreading the word about their needs, and how others can help, and also, to honor the individuals I’m advocating for in my wording and the info I mention here. If you see anything that I’ve missed, or that I could do better to accomplish this goal, you are welcome to let me know in the comments.

This Saturday, I’m sharing about three kids from Haiti, who are waiting for sponsors through Compassion International- maybe you? I’m sharing about kids who live in Haiti, because of the earthquake and tropical storm that recently hit Southern Haiti. Sadly, these natural disasters, as well as killing and injuring many, have pushed many Haitians further into poverty, and taken vital resources. All of the kids I’m sharing today live in an area of Haiti that was likely affected by the earthquake and tropical storm. I’ve linked to some pages down below from Compassion International where you can learn more and help!

Meet Nick! Here’s his sponsorship page: https://www.compassion.com/sponsor_a_child/child-biography.htm?gid=09149865&epik=dj0yJnU9ZjVhcmt0aFI1bnJVMzR3T05wSjQ0cUd0ZGpKRkNCem4mcD0wJm49T2UtZF9ELWx6dk5aaG5qQ1pPd01LdyZ0PUFBQUFBR0VnQ2NZ

Nick

Nick is 1 year old. Nick lives with his family in the mountainous community of Bainet, Haiti.

Most houses in the area are made up of cement, and have corrugated iron roofs.

Nick and his family likely eat maize, beans, chicken, bread and rice on a daily basis. Nick and his family speak Creole.

Most adults in Bainet are unemployed but some work as street venders and earn the equivalent of $43 per month. This community needs proper sanitation, qualified teachers, scholastic materials and employment opportunities.

Nick has made it through his first year- one of the most vulnerable times in life for a human living in poverty. At this age, having someone to assist his family in caring for him can still mean the difference between life and death. Sponsorship provides for a trained Survival Specialist from his local church to visit him every month at home.

These specialists provide access to much-needed immunizations and medical care, as well as food and water to meet critical physical needs. They also lend emotional and spiritual support to family members committed to caring for him. Sponsorship will give Nick a strong, healthy start, early in life when it can have the biggest impact.

As Nick grows older, sponsorship allow a local church to provide him with Bible teaching, health education, recreational activities, academic support and school supplies. The center staff will also provide educational workshops for Nick’s parents.

Nick has been waiting to be sponsored for 249 days. You can sponsor Nick for $38 a month!

Second, I’m posting about sweet Bebeth! Visit her sponsorship page here:  Second, I’m posting about sweet Bebeth! Bebeth

Bebeth is 6 years old, and lives with her family in the coastal community of Grand Goâve, Haiti.

Most houses in the area are made up of cement floors, brick walls and tin roofs.

Bebeth and her family probably eat maize, beans, bananas, chicken, fish, bread and rice on a daily basis. Bebeth speaks Creole.

Some of Bebeth’s favorite things to do include art or drawing, bicycling, dancing, dolls, group games, hide and seek, jump rope, music, running, singing, sports, walking, and learning about God.

She helps at home with kitchen help and running errands.

Most adults in Bebeth’s community are unemployed but some work as fishermen, market traders or moto-taxi drivers and earn the equivalent of $26 per month. This community needs vocational training, universities, banks and employment opportunities.

Bebeth’s mom is currently not employed, so sponsorship is especially important for Bebeth!

Bebeth also has some sort of special needs, which only heightens the challenges of living in poverty for her. Please consider sponsoring Bebeth so that money is not an obstacle in her getting all she needs to thrive!

Sponsorship will allow a local church to provide Bebeth with a Christian education, health screenings, special celebrations, etiquette lessons, books and uniforms. The center staff will also provide health education, literacy classes and meetings for Bebeth’s parents.

You can sponsor Bebeth for $38 a month!

Meet Sheedline! Visit her sponsorship page here: https://www.compassion.com/sponsor_a_child/child-biography.htm?gid=06143864&source=

Sheedline

Sheedline is 15 years old, and lives with her parents and one sibling in the mountainous community of Bainet, Haiti.

Most houses in the area are made up of cement and have corrugated iron roofs.

Sheedline and her family probably eat maize, beans, chicken, bread and rice on a daily basis.

Sheedline speaks Creole.

Some of Sheedline’s favorite things to do are playing group games, jacks, listening to Bible stories, and participating in service activities.

She helps at home with carrying water, cleaning, and kitchen help.

Most adults in Bainet are unemployed but some work as street venders and earn the equivalent of $43 per month. This community needs proper sanitation, qualified teachers, scholastic materials and employment opportunities.

Sheedline’s parents are currently not consistently employed, so sponsorship is especially important for Sheedline!

Sponsorship will allow a local church to provide Sheedline with Bible teaching, health education, recreational activities, academic support and school supplies. The center staff will also provide educational workshops for Sheedline’s parents

You can sponsor Sheedline for $38 a month!

I had to only share about a few kids here, but there are so many more who also need sponsorship to give they and their families what they need, and the recourses to hopefully lift themselves out of poverty for good! You can see kids waiting for sponsorship, who are from the same church as Nick, Bebeth, and Sheedline here: https://www.compassion.com/sponsor_a_child/child-search-results.htm?ProjectNameFilter=Wesleyan%20Church%20of%20Bainet&AgeMinFilter=1&AgeMaxFilter=22&HvcMismatch=false&NumberRequested=24&CurrentPage=1&SortOrder=0&BirthdayTodayFilter=false

Giving, praying, and sharing are three great ways to help Nick, Bebeth, and Sheedline, or other kids living in poverty.

Please do consider sharing this post or sponsoring Nick, Bebeth, or Sheedline! I would appreciate it so much!

Of course, sponsorship is not for everyone, but that isn’t the only way to help. Maybe you could share? Maybe you could give a one-time gift? Maybe you could pray?

Thank you so much for reading!
